Gary Gait to Coach Syracuse
In what could be a great move for Women's Lacrosse
Gary Gait the Hall of Fame player at indoor & outdoor lacrosse is considering the vacant role as Head Coach of Syracuse University Women's lacrosse team.
Gary is recognised as the foremost creative force in lacrosse, he was Assistant Coach at Maryland during which they won the Championship seven times.
Jen Adams (Australia) World Games MVP was coached by Gait for four years at Maryland credits Gary for changing the way she thought about the game and on improving her stickwork with new drills so she could do things with the stick she never thought possible.

I have been reading a more articles and online features on Womens lacrosse and get the impression that the England game is really falling behind development elsewhere. The Australians seem to have a number of players who have turned to womens lacrosse from hockey and mens lacrosse, the introduction of GG and other coaches with a grounding in Mens lacrosse seems to be producing more physical and aggessive play compared with our own game, and that seems to reflect in the style of some of the LDOs I have seen.
I really don't know enough about the Women's game to be sure that is the case, but what do you think UKLF or anyone else?

I dont think england are falling behind....i do think they are in the 2nd teir at the moment (1st: aus & usa, 2nd: eng & can)
there are many arguements people could use, such as the usa players esp from college are almost pro's training 4 hours a day almost everyday and that aus has had the advantage of quite a few players attending the us college system and eng just dont have enough resources etc etc....i do believe that these factors do come into play a lot!
Eng womens now go on tour to the usa twice a year....which is a big ask for the players (cost etc) and although the recent tour they got spanked by maryland, they took out a very young team and came back happy with the results and knowing that the games they lost they could have won! Eng have being moving forward with the way they play, they bhave introduced a number of attacking and defending systems which other teams have copied including usa teams so they are not exactly at the back of the line with development
i think in the future, the centex programme needs to grow...more players, more coaches bringing in new ideas etc
The team are prob in a stage of change at the moment and bringing in new players who need the experience and the tours to the usa really help....and maybe we may see more eng (uk) players joining the us college system, there are currently 2 players there (one at JMU and another at Maryland)

i reckon there will be more girls from outside the us that will be attending the us college system...dont get me wrong it wont be a mass flood...maybe increasing by a couple a year..... but more coaches are looking at the athletes who have the abilities physically and can read the game and with such great coaches the skills can be taught!
anyone who has the potential should def look to get out there.

ESPN Player wrote:Greetings,
Unfortunately the Lacrosse Final is not scheduled for live streaming via ESPN Player. Due to various conference and network agreements, not all ESPN Programming/Content carries International distribution rights, which renders availability within ESPN Player impossible for some events, despite their carriage on other ESPN properties in the United States.
We do appreciate your feedback, and we have passed along to the ESPN Player product team. Every effort is made to include as much compelling content as is possible.
