Hillcroft summer training 2013

Hillcroft begin our summer training tonight at 7:30 on Clapham common.

We will train until the light gives out and then normally have a drink in the Windmill.

Any players from local clubs, players home from uni, recent arrivals looking for a new team and complete beginners can all join in and we normally get pretty good turnouts once we're up and running.

All are welcome.

We meet behind the Windmill pub on the common. Ideally be ready to go at 7:30 but feel free to turn up throught the evening as work allows.

Thanks to those who made it out (~20 people).

The summer sessions will be rotating around a number of core skills. The first session focussed in particular on two areas of lacrosse fundamentals: ground balls and basic defence.

Next week we will be looking at overarm shooting: high percentage shots.

Thanks to all attending yesterday's session, the combination of a new set of lax balls, a cage and a relatively empty park did make for good entertainment.

Next session on Clapham Common is Tuesday June 18th 2013.

There is also a "Conditioning and Stickskills" session on Tooting Bec Common. First session will be on Saturday, June 15th from 1100h to 1200h and is open to players at all levels from all clubs. We meet in the South West corner of the park, near the corner of Elmbourne Rd and Tooting Bec Rd. I will be at the exit of Tooting Bec Station (Northern Line) for anyone looking to walk from the tube with me at 1045h.

The session will be focussing on general plyometrics, stickskills under fatigue and take no more than one hour. Subject to sufficient participation it will be held weekly (weather allowing) until further notice.

Session tonight is on. With about twenty players and two coaches in attendance, we will be working in groups, covering stick handling and theoretical concepts.

All players of all levels of experience from all clubs are welcome to join. We are practicing near the Windmill Pub, but anyone looking to walk over with some of the players, please meet at 1915h at the entrance of Clapham South Underground station.

And yes, the session is free of charge.

Summer training continues to be a blast, 20+ guys at practice, this time including a goalie.

Next practices are Saturday, July 6th at1000h (due to watching the Rugby game in nearby pub at 1100h) on Tooting Bec. We meet in the South West corner of the park, near the corner of Elmbourne Rd and Tooting Bec Rd.

Then it is on Tuesday, July 9th at 1930h till dark on Clapham Common.

Saturday, July 20th at 1000h on Tooting Bec. We meet in the South West corner of the park, near the corner of Elmbourne Rd and Tooting Bec Rd

Tuesday, July 23rd on Clapham Common

From August onwards, the sessions will focus more on basic team concepts and small team plays (2v2, etc.) while retaining most of the current focus on sound fundamentals.

Summer training continues.

Today's session is from 1930h onwards on the fields at Clapham Common, near the Windmill Pub. With the season coming closer, there will be some focus on basic team offense and defense.

For Saturday, we plan to practice for 1000h on Tooting Bec Common (same venue as before) although that start date may be changed.

Open sessions continue, if now only at one training per week.

The next session is on Saturday, September 14th at 1000h, same venue as before.

Big focus will be on broken and settled plays which should make for a great chance to shake the summer rust off before that nasty first game of the season happens.
