World championships coverage

Postby 6x6 Thu Sep 12, 2013 12:45 am

60 games to be televised on ESPN. Great coverage and hopefully that exposure will help grow the game somewhat.

Time for those participating to break out new kit and look pretty for the cameras

I think, basically, BT Sport purchased ESPN America but has discontinued the channel. BT Sport will continue to transmit some American Sports on ESPN.

Quote from ESPN - "ESPN America will no longer be available across Europe, however an ESPN TV channel will continue in the UK & Ireland, owned & operated by BT and bundled with its BT Sport 1 & BT Sport 2 channels. Some of the content that you have seen on ESPN America in recent years will continue on the ESPN channel operated by BT".

Quote from BT "The almost 4,000 hours of live US sports will further strengthen BT's offering. The list includes Major League Baseball, NCAA College Basketball, NCAA College Football and NASCAR".

No mention of lacrosse (NCAA lacrosse / MLL etc). Seems like a backward step. Guess we have to wait and see.

google search "ESPN live stream" or you may get coverage on the ESPN player which is their online subscription.

ESPN will provide a "global media platform.....that has never existed before". 60 televised games seems like an astounding amount of coverage for lacrosse. Yet, it will be up to the various media companies around the world to pick up the coverage. With England playing in the Blue Division, which will undoubtedly be the featured games; along with Wales and Scotland playing quality lacrosse, I hope you folks there get to watch.

I asked BT Sport if they would be covering the games, back in November, and they said "it's too far into the future to give an outright answer..", which I found hard to believe.
