a bit of a strange one but would it be legal for a head designed for use in the womens game to be used in the mens, assuming sturng with a pocket that is of legal depth?

I don't have one to hand to measure right now, but yes if the dimensions are legal (see rules 15.2, 15.6, 15.7)
Remember that they are not designed with the demands of the mens game in mind and so may be more easily damaged etc. You would probably also need to use a womens shaft as I am pretty sure they are narrower (and again not designed for the game)
