Once again, i have another question.
A player at training last night was on D whilst another player attacked. The attacking player went in side on and his arm stretched out to the opposite side - wide enough that the D man was no where near the stick. The d man however began to check the A mans hand (no where near the stick). Poke checks and slap checks.
Is this a rule break as there is no intention of going for the stick as he is just quite obviously checking a free hand that has nothing to do with the play? Surely its the same as checking the body with no intention of going for the stick?
An information would be fantastic to whether this is legal as no one really seems to know.

slashing
See specifically 71.3
contact to be on the crosse or the gloved-hand holding the crosse
anything else is a slash and should as a minimum be met with a "hit wood" (or similar) call by the ref; then if it continues start throwing flags
