Mouthguard Advice
Is there a specific type or brand of mouthguard that you would recommend for an intermediate level player?

Well, I've tried various "heat & mould" types - for example Shock Doctor - but eventually got a proper one from my dentist.
Never looked back - cost me about 30 GBP but far better than anything else I've tried.

Well, this is going to depend on your dentist...
Mine took a mould, sent off to get it fabricated, then spent a reasonable amount of time making final adjustments when I next visited. As a result it fitted perfectly.

Get yourself one of these. I have had dentist fitted ones in the past which cost way more and are exactly them same. You make the mould yourself at home (takes no time at all) them you post it off. Haven't had to buy a new one for last 3 years it is class.
