Shooting on the Run

Postby UKLaxfan Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:44 am

Shooting on the Run:
Shooting on the run is one of the most difficult skills to master but
it also one of the most effective sklls if you can master it.

Keys to success:
1) Run through the shot don't stop or slow down giving defender a chance to make a trail check
2) Get good rotation on lower trunk and shoulders, so you can generate power
3) Set up the shot with a cradle high & away, setting ball in sweet spot of stick and ideally hiding the head of your stick behind your head/back
4) Follow through to the target, generates power and accuracy
5) Use both hands to generate power Pull - Bottom Hand, Push & Snap wrist -Top Hand
6) Shoot off your outside foot, ideally pivoting off the outside foot and making the last step towards the Goal.
7) Practice - Practice - Practice

Watch some of the best shooters on the run and learn from how they do it.

But don't try to do it with just your forearms unless they're as huge as his...
Chichester Crusaders Coach.
Portsmouth Uni #66 - once upon a time.
Southampton Sabres #66 - a long time ago.
Army #7 - Tri-Services 2009

Coming soon to a sideline near you, complete with camera.
