After 8 weeks I'm finally off the crutches and starting to walk again on my healed broken ankle.
I'm starting to think forward to september when I'll be able to play in goal again. I'm trying to figure out how best to protect my ankle. I have never been a fan of shin pads and would rather not go down that route.
Does anybody know of any smaller discrete pads aimed at protecting ankles from knocks? Also looking to keep it stable too.

wear rugby boots... theyre a little heavy, but will support your ankle and take the heat out of any hits... worked for me

whoever said goalies were a sarnie short of a picnic had no idea how close to the truth they were
Play... Bleed..... Strap up your wounds.... Play again

I myself have very weak ankles and i use an ankle brace such as the one available on the link below. Unfortunately the braces arnt cheap but they are very effective and i have never to this day (touch wood) never had a problem when wearing one.

I also use cleats that come high on the ankle which makes a massive difference for me.

Dirty bugger.
Yeah my friend used to be a GB Cross Country runner and has similar ankle worries from rolling them all the time.
He wears something similar to Al, but a bit more meaty, which may suit you in goal a bit better.

That's not the exact one he has, but very similar.
Best of luck with the return.
