Because if you go on new boundaries as has been pointed out above you get 'counties' such as Bristol or Cardiff etc... would be loads of current counties with one team in them - which is not really the point. Maybe you should draw up the list of the teams based on 2010 boundaries yourself - so far ...

Why would you bother with old county boundaries. If its done surely you need to use modern 2010 counties? again going back to historc county lines would put bristol in avon/somerset Do Gloucestershire not play their county cricket in Bristol? how would this work in regards to people playing outside their home county? For example- Myself playing in Nottingham on weekdays and weekends could i then go back home and play for Hertfordshire (if it was set up) You'd be eligible for the county your club is in (rather than where the player lives...
