Re: Late hit
I'm not the only one who has noticed it! NCAA proposed rule change: and putting more emphasis on a major foul on a goal scorer. If a major foul is committed on a goal scorer — a push or a cross check during or after the shot, for example — the goal will stand and the scoring team awarded possession ...

Re: Late hit
Definitely put coaches in there!
And re stick. If goals goes in it was still out of control/dangerous to throw a stick.

Re: Late hit
Get 200 video clips of it happening (charge vs push) Get a room full of refs Make them watch in a random order the 200 clips 2 or 3 times (600 clips) And see how well they agree with 1. each other and 2. themselves. Next question....ready....In my brief look, I cant find a rule that covers it Goalie...

Re: Late hit
but....that said.
it is an on ball play, which might need to be reffed better.
But the example I gave is in the back, with no possible way of the D getting the ball legally. And I'd like to know what the refs were watching if not the feed in, and the goal scorer!

Re: Late hit
Interesting thought. i think one of the most difficult calls is (attckers) charge vs (defensive) push. The norm used to be that it often got called in the attackers favour, less so, I think, but still favours the attacker. A 70kg girl running at 8-9 metres a second, meeting a 70kg girl, braced for t...

Re: Late hit
There are some things that are about intent, but a lot of women's calls (and men's calls) are not about intent, but about safety. shooting space - players often not intending to be in front of the goal (sometimes do, to put them on a hash instead) dangerous follow through - unintentionally having th...

Re: Late hit
your point about the video review, I agree, completely. It is very difficult to feedback to referees without sounding bitter and always easier to make the call when looking at video. But in that game there were three sticks making contact with heads that were not called, one yellow for a "dange...

Late hit
Is this the least looked at forum? Not a huge number of women's refs on here, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Red (attacking) v Blue Red throws a feed which lands in a players stick in front of cage. She shoots and scores whilst face planting in the ground. She is falling because Blue D pushed her in ...

He's released a statement about this: http://www.ilindoor.com/2013/03/13/lewis-ratcliffe-responds-to-cces-announcement-its-tough-to-have-this-happen-when-i-didnt-knowingly-do-anything-wrong/#more-89028 Obviously hard not to be skeptical following the whole Lance Armstrong debacle but I do sympathis...

Re: ATTENTION ALL SEMLA CLUBS
How about if you shoot it goes between the bars of my visor, hits me in the eye and blinds me.
Or if you hack at a ground ball, miss and break my tibia?
Or cross check my neck and break it.
Are any of those covered? Time to look into their document but not sure that I'll understand it.

Re: ATTENTION ALL SEMLA CLUBS
Girl gets hit in eye playing lacrosse She loses her eye Regardless of if it was bad refereeing or a fluke accident she was told by the ELA that they didnt cover that sort of thing. If she wanted to, she could fork money out of her own pocket to sue someone, and see if she got some compensation by ri...

Re: fish and chip shop league
Pom is quite right. MG, you're wrong. I had racist comments made about me on a field, thankfully over 10 years ago. I have heard in the last 5 years comments about a player, which I was disgusted with. I'm sure someone technical can be more precise, but discrimination isn't what one intends to say, ...

Re: Head Gear for Women's Lacrosse
I'm sure I read an article somewhere about a study done in the US to do with the introduction of Goggles. The general gist was that there were more injuries and people were less carful when tackling. In fact I think I read it through a link on this forum somewhere? NO NO read again - paper said few...

Re: Head Gear for Women's Lacrosse
Well done Keith! I think it was being measured from the plastic, but I was busy with a lighter and a pair of tweezers (whilst venting my frustration) restringing shooting strings! I have only once seen a ref make a player loosen the outer two leathers because it wasnt 'free' - the ball sat beautiful...

Re: Head Gear for Women's Lacrosse
I agree that it is the younger ones that need the 'protection'. Use Ice or Roller hockey as an example. Full visor / cage until 18, and then up to you. As for uklacrosse stick sales: I agree you have done a lot to emphasize and supply legal sticks; Alas, some muppet with a tape measure at the Euros ...

Re: Head Gear for Women's Lacrosse
Good to see people changing their tune and coming round to the idea of goggles to protect eyes in women's lacrosse.
A colleague's daughter at work just bought her first lacrosse stick.
No mention from the school about the risk of playing the sport; No information that goggles even exist.

See if you can use your charm to twist his arm into reducing the cost of the DVDs on the day.
Suggest a business model of cheaper DVD = more sales = more money for him
At the moment personal video might be the better option.

one thought (which you didn't mention)- please pass on to Adrian Battersby.
a download costs about 3euros
a DVD costs a cool 21 euros
that's quite a premium
