Open Question re LDO's

Hi I've been asked by a friend at the club to ask a question on the forums with the hope of opening up a discussion on best practice. Situation. Ashton have had LDO for 2 years and seen no return of kids for investment. We've previously tried the Stickit Model with some success but a new hand at the...

Ashton lax club seeking players

Hi, I've been asked to put out a general call for anyone looking for a new challenge and regular Prem 2 lacrosse. As you know Ashton lost its request to stay in the lower division even though we've been crippled by half the team going to university. So if there is anyone languishing in a lower level...

Re: Passing of a dear friend to lacrosse

Many thanks to those who shared their thoughts, I'm sure the family will be consoled to know Peter was well loved. The arrangements for the funeral have been confirmed. On Wednesday 26th October, at Dukinfield Crematorium at 11 am. Wake afterwards in Beaconsfield social club in Cockbrook. It's not a...

Passing of a dear friend to lacrosse

It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Schofield, his wife Janet and sons Richard and Dave, have asked me to announce the passing of Peter earlier this week. Peter didn't come from a lacrosse family, his introduction to lacrosse was when his son Dave came home from school, having been coa...

Friendly Anyone?

I know it's unusual to ask for a friendly mid season but due to the oddities of the schedule in Prem 3 Ashton won't have a game for another 3 weeks. Iain our captain would like to organise a friendly run out on an upcoming Saturday. If you would be interested let me know. Anyone else have big window...

CBO Scorecard

I did my first CBO job yesterday and was given a couple of scorecards to use by the league ref. (thanks v much) I'd been using back of a business card until then. Anyway I used the scorecard as a basis for a personal scorecard. I've put it on a word document (well 4 blank scorecards). Available atta...

CBO Scorecard

Hi Chaps, I'm now CBO-ing and had my first proper game with a league ref yesterday. V good & learned loads. One thing that came out of it was a scorecard that the ref gave me to keep the score on. Until he gave me this, I'd been scoring on the back of a business card. Anyway he gave me a couple,...

Andy Cheshire Memorial Game

This is the ten year anniversary of Andy Cheshire's death on a lacrosse pitch in Poynton. To mark the passing of such a character and servant to the club Ashton have organised several events in Andy's memory. Some weeks ago we ran the u14's Memorial Tournament on 4 thursday evenings. Fittingly this ...

Re: Results 8/1/11

Ashton v Old Stops. Great game played in fine spirits by bod and his merry men. Well reffed by Sharon Bamford and enjoyable start to the New Year. Feeling a bit stiff after the big layoff though and the wind up in Ashton today was something fierce. OH the score i hear you say. Ashton 1 Stops 16. But...

Results 6/11/2010

I'll get the ball rolling, Ashton gave Sheffield Steelers a scare (ahem) and had a grand day out. Score 18-1 sorry 1-18 it looks worse than it was, well no it doesn't actually they were ace, very sporting, played an excellent brand of lacrosse and were a grand bunch of lads. We did actually play pre...

Re: Nottingham v Ashton Saturday 30th October

nope the a team captain isn't picking first teamers, feeling is if they can't raise a team to play their game they shouldn't get a game with the A's and displace a regular a teamer.
