BUCS results 9/2/11

Postby rpowell Wed Feb 09, 2011 8:36 pm

St Andrews 0 Durham 20

Scores by quarter:
0-5
0-5
0-6
0-4

Both teams very understanding over the pitch being used by a womens game rather later than anticipated!

Pleasure to referee...

Essex vs Kent 16-3 I believe (may be wrong on that) congratulations to Essex on winning the league very deserved if todays performance was to go by

Could of been 15 - 3 but we'll take the extra goal.

That pitch definitely lends itself to some serious ground ball practice!

One of you guys asked for the footage of the game, we'll try and get it onto Dropbox if any of you have that.

Yeah that was me, I can get that set up if needs be, and yeah our pitch leaves a little bit to be desired at the moment.

Yeah well done to essex, throughly deserved. Didnt get to award their MOM but it would of been number 24.
I felt first quarter was close, essex leading 3-1. We got a goal back early into second quarter bringing it to 3-2...but after this our fitness let us down, partly due to it being our first game in almost 3months. Essex played some great lacrosse and were good sports.
Looking forward to the battle of second place...

Nottingham Trent 13- Lincoln 2

Was 3-2 going into the 3rd quarter, Trent went up a gear for the last 2 quarters, the Lincoln defense couldn't keep up. Was a very good game and very well reffed.

Northumbria 15 - 5 Keele

Poly girls had a game before and Keele were delayed in arriving, which meant the game didn't start until gone 3:30. Consequently the second half was reduced to 15mins each quarter due to light.

Game was a pleasure to referee. Ground was soft which made for some interesting groundballs, slips and falls as well as numerous incidents of cramp amongst the 10man Northumbria team. Major difference came down to possession, controlling the tempo, and finishing shots.

Northumbria v Keele
4 - 1
8 - 3
12 - 4
15 - 5

It seems when Portsmouth 1sts don't have a game, they send a fair few of their 1st team down to their 2nds games - which is what we experienced when we lost to them, not sure how this works with BUCS regulations? Seems they didn't take any on this occasion and was their true squad, but Chichester have some strong players on their team.

Same back to your lads. We did our best to give you a game but your individual ability/tekkers were too good for us. Great game to be a part of.

Nope :)
Brief explanation: We have over a teams worth of non first team + a shedload fresher players to choose from. Most of which have lectures on wednesdays and are relucant to play every wednesday. Only a minority of our bucs 2nd team have made it into our semla 2nd team.

Is that the England U19 lad?

Even so I was surprised to see Portsmouth only score 2 especially with Chichester hell bent on playing zonal D, unless they've changed tact.
