BUCS Trophy match - delayed from last Wednesday by weather.
Edinburgh 8 Aberdeen 6
Really enjoyed this one - and thank you to Josh for helping referee. Looks as though Edinburgh are at home to Stirling in the next round...

Great game - thanks for reffing Rob!
Edinburgh took a quick lead and despite a very strong showing we weren't able to catch up. Well played to them.

Great game to play in, hope your Canadian (No. 69) was alright in the end.

Brighton 8 v 11 Reading
For the second consecutive week Brighton managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Ahead 6 - 2 at halftime and with the visiting team looking shellshocked, Brighton should have wrapped this game up in the third quarter. Instead they let chances go begging and lost concentration at the back. This allowed Reading the opportunity to claw their way back into the game, and they didn't wait to be invited twice. The visitors scored nine second-half goals, looking unrecognisable from the first half with incisive off-ball movement and gritty determination at groundballs. Brighton in contrast were a shadow of themselves as the game drew to a close, scoring nothing in the third quarter and just two in the last.
A feisty fixture with some strong hits and robust checking, but played fairly and in good spirits. Hopefully both teams were as happy with my reffing as I was with their conduct. Reading earned their result the hard way, and Brighton will be itching to be more clinical in the return fixture.

Oxford Brookes 6 v 4 Loughbourgh 2nds
Q1: 1-2
Q2: 1-3
Q3: 2-4
Q4: 6-4
Truely a game of two halfs, first half with some of the worst weather seen in a lacrosse match south of Leeds which brightened up at half time for a pleasent afternoon if one forgets that one is already rather damp and cold. Both teams had to work hard for ground balls and to stay on their feet most the time, big praise to both sets of long poles who were constantly breaking up field on transitions. Not much to seperate the teams until Brookes rallyed in the final quarter scoring 4 goals.
Big thanks to the Brookes girls as well who's match had been cancelled but turned up to support and brought me coffee and sweets at halftime. I had a word with Coach Campbell and she promises to be nice to you all for the next few weeks.
