Re: Sheffield Varsity
This years Varsity match between the Sheffield Universities was played at a high level of intensity with Hallam coming out the eventual winners. It was a physical game and the 3 on field refs did a great job. Many thanks go to John Warrington, Eddie Owen and Chaz Narwicz for officiating the game.

Q1
Uni- Jonny Goodfellow (Mike Armstrong)
Hallam EMO - Alex Mitchell (Unassisted)
Hallam - Elliot Appleyard (Carl Adshead)

In other Varsity news:
Bristol 20 - 2 UWE
UWE have just started their team and I think this was their first ever full length game so congratulations. Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of them in the future. Also a good chance for the Bristol freshers to show their worth, a great day of lacrosse.

Re: Sheffield Varsity
Hallam won? Bad times.
Further north: Newcastle 8 - 2 Northumbria.
Official match report (as in from the referee) Newcastle just down right wanted it more. So that's 1-1 in all Stan Calvert (Newcastle v Northumbria varsity) lax games, as last year's got rained off.

Us tourists from Bath clearly left too early, although what we saw did look good from both teams.
Streakers indeed...

It was the first full length game that we had played, we played in the small tournament in exeter but only had 6 players. We have not had a mens coach all season so I'm proud we even managed to score 2 goals!
Thanks for a great day out from the Bristol boys! We hope to pose a better opposition next year!

Re: Lacrosse Varsities
York men beat Lancaster 17 - 1 in the annual Roses Tournament at the weekend. Not the prettiest of games, but a way off the York women's mauling of the Lancs girls 40 - 0.
http://www.nouse.co.uk/2011/05/15/yorks-lacrosse-teams-enjoy-dominance-during-roses/
It's a shame because the games used to be hotly contested 7 or 8 years ago, but the last 5 years men's scores read:
York 14 - 1 Lancaster
York 16 - 2 Lancaster
York 28 - 0 Lancaster
York 19 - 5 Lancaster
York 17 - 1 Lancaster
Aggregate scoreline York 94 - 9 Lancaster...
The Roses tournament, involves hundreds of matches in nearly every sport played at the universities and has been going on since 1965, with York currently ahead in the series 24 - 22. This year York regained the Carter-James trophy with an overall score of 176.5 to 104.5.
Hopefully the Lancaster lads will be able to up their game and give a competitive fixture next year in Lancaster.
