FROM WEBSITE:

What This Is:

This is a FREE tool provided by ArchLevel Lacrosse for all current BUCS lacrosse players within the British Universities lacrosse community; both men and women. The overall process for this program is explained below.

1. EMAILING STATS: Statistics from teams should be emailed by a captain of that team no later than midnight on the immediate Friday following each BUCS game to be reflected on that week’s results. *Stats MUST be sent by a team captain unless previously arranged between the team and ArchLevel. Stats from players other than a captain will not be recorded to ensure continuity and accuracy. Statistics should be sent to Stats@ArchLevelLacrosse.com

2. UPDATING OF STATS: Both individual and team statistics will be updated and announced each Sunday via The ArchLevel Report (http://www.thearchlevelreport.com
) for comparison and overall BUCS leagues rankings reflection. The rankings for the following categories will be reflected for each individual week, and, accumulatively throughout the season:

a. Overall Goals (Individual)
b. Overall Assists (Individual)
c. Saves Percentage (Individual)
d. Shooting Percentage (Individual)
e. Shooting Percentage (Team)
f. Saves Percentage (Team)
g. Overall Assists (Team)
h. Overall Goals (Team)

How You Can Participate:

A captain from your team needs to provide the following statistics for each week’s game:

1. Individual goals scored
a. We will need the name, number, and number of goals scored for each player on your team that scored for that week’s game.
2. Individual assists
a. We will need the name, number, number of assists, and name of goal scorer resulting from that assist for each player on your team that assisted for that week’s game
3. Individual saves by a goalie
a. This number is ONLY for shots that are saved by the goalie. This does not include missed shots or shots that hit any part of the goal, including posts, before making contact with the goalie.
b. We will need the name and number for each goalie along with their stats.
4. Individual shots
a. The number of shots each player had during your game regardless of whether or not those shots resulted in a goal.
b. We will need the name and number for each player along with their stats.

***NOTE: Team statistics will be created using your individual statistics so make sure all information is accurate and reliable. We are not responsible for any miscalculated team statistics based off of inaccurate individual stats that are sent to us.

Send all statistical information to the following email address: Stats@ArchLevelLacrosse.com

would there be a standardized statistics sheet available to download and print, such as the worlds and ec2012?
it could make noting down the stats easier for the teams, easier for the captain to interpret, plus easier for you as you wont have 150 different versions to sort through?!

If you go to www.archlevellacrosse.com on your smart phone there are already versions of the standard team forms via custom team links in the app. More to come on details for hard copy game tracking forms.

is there anyway of checking info is correct?
will rely on teams having somebody taking down the stats, usually easier for the bigger teams and teams sending info through the whole season not just the start.

Good luck, if it works could def be used across the board!

Saves on goal, when it hits the pipe?? Face-off wins, is that possession, or face-off. I've heard so many interpretations of 'assists' in lacrosse ... it's better than Fantasy Football!

This argument comes up a lot but I like this definition:

Assists—Any one direct pass by a player to a teammate who then
scores a goal without having to dodge or evade an opponent other than
the goalkeeper who is in the crease is recorded as an assist. There can be
only one assist on any goal scored.

How about...
ASSIST: An assist is a play made by an offensive player that directly results in a goal being scored by the attacking team.
The assist is usually a pass made by one teammate to another who in turn scores a goal.

The guidelines for the awarding of an assist include two parts: the action of the passer and the actions of the recipient. An assist shall be awarded a player following a pass that is converted to a goal provided that:
a) the recipient does not take more than five steps or take longer than five seconds:
b) the recipient does not maneuver around defensive pressure that is excessive: obviously, excessive is a relative term that is subject to subjective reasoning. For this reason, it is imperative that a statistician not only is consistent with his or her recording but also has a good understanding of the game and its play.

An assist is NOT awarded to a player that shoots and has her shot rebound off the post or the goalie and the ball is picked up by a teammate and shot in the goal.

The problem with is assist is that its a judgement call on whoever is taking the stats...either way one clear set of definitive rules as to what counts will help the stat tracker thing

David already has!
What it demonstrates is the lack of any consistency, or understanding.
Stats are great .... coaches can use them for all manner of purposes, but only if they are meaningful and accurate.

Hey guys. Here are some quick answers:

1. The stats will be taken by the players themselves. We have started this program using the basic stats that individual players will be able to keep track of themselves during a game. Since teams obviously do not full time statisticians we are using the most common and easily tracked stats for players to "get the ball rolling" with plans of adding more detailed stats down the road once this is an accepted concept.

2. The "definition" for each stat will be on our site and also relayed to the teams that are participating for clarity and continuity.

3. This is the first step in a bigger picture for tracking that we have developed a model for. With hopes of a successful first season within BUCS we will be looking to expand this program to club leagues and a wider catch of stats.

If you visit the new site you will see a range of new pages that will host various weekly updates with highlights, write ups, and team lists. All participating teams receive details on the submission process that includes a fully integrated app, custom team submission forms, and individual team stats pages for all participants, weekly newsletters with updates, and more. If you have any questions feel free to let us know. Cheers.

will be an interesting set of stats....
the player that shoots at every opportunity and the players that dont remember how many shots they take in a game...

if only you could convince teams to buy a camcorder, record games and take stats from the video...

Definition examples that we will be using:

Assists: You may award an assist if a player
makes a direct pass to a teammate who then
scores a goal without having to dodge or
evade an opponent other than the goalkeeper.
Only one assist may be awarded on
any goal, and many goals in lacrosse are
unassisted.

Saves: Whenever the goalkeeper stops or
deflects a shot that otherwise would have
entered the goal, a save is awarded. A shot
that misses the goal on its own is not recorded
as a save, nor is a shot that hits any part of the
physical goal (i.e. post or crossbar) without making contact with the goalie or
their stick first.

Shots: Whenever the offensive team propels
the ball toward the goal with the intent of
scoring, a shot is awarded (even if the ball is
kicked, flipped directly from the ground with a
stick, or intentionally deflected toward the
goal). A shot may miss the goal entirely
without being saved. A goal scored by the
defensive team is not credited as a shot.

So we are a few games in now. Are any unis using this? Are you getting a good amount of regular data? I've checked the website and the bit where stats are supposed to be updated and published still says coming soon.
