Hi,
Our team has never had any form of coaching other than that of the captains based on their personal experience - often very little.
Looking to introduce some new training drills into the team this year wondering if anyone could suggest any please?
Especially ones for our freshers starting in sept, who usually like most of us in our team, hadnt even seen a stick until uni
Any ideas would be very much appreciated
Thanks
Northampton Uni Capt.

Balls lots of them
Sticks that are strung so you can actually throw the ball
a goal with a net in
There are lots of drills available on line
- dodgding drills
- feeding & cutting drills
- shooting drills
- 1-on-1 drills
- GB drills
You want high reps
- high work to rest ratios
- high variety of drills never more then 15 mins max
- FUNdamentals
- make them competitive / Game Like / LIVE
Plan Practices
- Schedule exactly what you want to work on
- tell people what you are going to work on
- summarize at the end what you learned/worked on
Teaching/Coaching 101
- Plan
- Do
- Monitor
- Review
Set goals and measure performance against them
- King of the Hill (GB Drill until last man standing is the winner)
- 3v2 Genny Drill - Encourages Transition, Speed of Ball & Player Movement... AND going to the Goal
Use
- YouTube
- Inside Lacrosse
- USLacrosse.org
