south holder tournament

Postby kiddo Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:04 pm

Dont know whether there will be a u17 age in the tournament this year? Makes sence seeing as all the u16 teams last year are now u17 and would be good for us....Would be pretty annoyed if it isnt seeing as there isnt much junior stuff going on atm

Holder Trophy

Postby kayftara Wed Oct 08, 2008 6:38 pm

The Holder is set up for u12, u14 and u16.

Maybe the organiser - Peter Compton could accomodate u17, we will ask him.

Generally , it appears that clubs do not want to many u17 fixtures as the players are turning out in SEMLA league games. However, we could run an u17 tournament or 2 if players want it. And, you will have the Harrow Cup, but that will be after Christmas.

So, if you want u17 fixtures, let me know.

Holder Trophy

Sad to say , we cannot run u17 in the Holder , due to the strength of the youger age groups , thus occupying all the pitches.

We will try and run an u17 tournament before Christmas; 'the Santa Claus' trophy!

I felt the same as i turned 17, but just because all the 16 year olds who last year are too old now doesnt mean that the age groups should be changed as the 14 and 15 year olds from year before can now compete at U16s and the now 17 year olds should be establishing themselves in the mens team and getting regular games on the weekends

What you should be doing is helping your younger players progess, when i was too old for holder trophy i went with the team and coached our U16s on the side-lines, share your experience :)

ye we all play senior, well at blues anyways. But it makes no sence not have a u17 when all the teams are going from u16, especially seeing as none of the teams iv seen actually have a u16 age group.....Whats a few freindlies anyways, hardly effecting things lol..

whenever we had tournements i hardly saw any U14 players, so surely the U16 age group now wont be tht "full".
Now tht we are all playing senior, surely the games will be of a better standard to play in and spectate.

Harrow Cup

Postby kayftara Mon Oct 13, 2008 7:17 pm

It is good to see interest and enthusiasm for u17 level.

That is why we initiated the Harrow Cup and we will have an u17 tournament before Christmas.

u16 and u17 will also be able to attend the Engalnd Academy in the South and it is highly likely that we shall have an Engalnd u17 team in the future.

Would you be saying that if you were U16?

In a perfect world there would be
England U21
England U19
England U17
England U15
England U13

Unfortuntely we don't live in a perfect World :|

Now that you're over 16 you can play seniors, what about the kids who are under 16 :?:
They can't play Seniors yet and all they have is U16s

nah you misunderstood. Because at the clubs we have at the moment, there arnt any kids 15/16 becasue wev all moved up. So what i was saying was why not have u17 seeing as wer all that age. Not that there shouldnt be u16 at all. :D

ok so ur club might not have the numbers for an U16 team but tht isnt true for every club.. bath for instance are able to field a farely competitve U16 team every year and their 16/17 yr olds are now playing senior lacrosse either in the 2nds or 1st team.. 3 15 yr olds also playing 2nds team this season
