Is it definitely in 2008, not 2007? The last one took place in 2003, thought it was every 4 years?

They moved it so that the girls and the boys U19's could happen at the same time in the US 2003...the next girls tournament is 2007 and boys 2008....maybe the move had something to do with off field activity!

Maybe, maybe not...........more likely they wanted to get the men's U19's midway between Men's World Champs, as per the women's??

I heard it was to do with the cost of hosting mens and womens at the same time.....not positive this is the case though

The fact that the games are in 2008 not 2007 is bad for all the current 18 yr olds (A level yr) who will miss out on their chance to try out for the team. All due to the fact that the ILF decided to push it back a year!

I think it's a shame that the mens and womens have been split up again, for whatever reason. Having played in the U19's in Baltimore and the Europeans in '04 one of the best parts of it for me was having the womens support for us and the support we gave them - it certainly helped raise the standard a notch or two when you've got them cheering you on. And it was nice to have the chance to see friends play on the world stage. Personnaly I really hope that the next Europeans are held side by side again

i heard that the reason they were seperated is that the ILF put more money into the 2003 u19s world cup than the IFWLA but they both got an equal split of the earnings which irratated the ILF for obvious reasons!

It would be much better if both championships were at the same time! makes for a better tournament!

i heard that the home nations had applied, especially Wales for the 2008 cup!

It is rough on those who will miss out particualrly being too young for 2003 and too old for 2008! Those guys would have been 14 then 19? However, just think about all the other ones who regularly miss out! You could be 15 for one and 19 for the next, so there's always one year of juniors who miss out, or am I getting this wrong?? Its down to pure luck if you happen to have been born in just the right year to be at the top end just when the U19's falls.

it is a bit crazy and random, if it were in 2007 as it should then there would be alot of players who would get to play who know cant!

This is a big thing as senior management for national teams look to the u19 teams for more players, so it could be possible that players will miss out playing for their country overall

Maybe that particular year will miss more than usual buts its random, as there's going to be another year when others will gain by the switch. Look at those who would have missed out if it had been 2007 as they might have missed out to their elders, those will now be the older ones and at the maximum age. Its 'swings and roundabouts'.
