TRIAL RULES 2009/10 SUMMARY
At the centre draw there may only be five players (inclusive of the two
centres) from each team between the restraining lines, i.e. the two centres
and four pairs. See note 1.
When it is not possible to determine why a draw was illegal, time out will
be called and the draw reset.
On a minor foul free position, the offending player is placed 4m to the side,
all other players must be 4m away. See note 2.
On a boundary ball, where the goalkeeper is the closest player to the ball
and inside her goal circle she will be given possession of the ball inside her
goal circle. See note 3.
Attack offside. Free position is taken at the spot of the ball if outside the
15m, if inside it is taken at the top of the 15m – opposing player is placed
4m to the side. Penalty set up is now the same for both attack and defence
(correct the offside, but no longer create 4v3).
The minor foul for bodily contact of the ball will only be called when it is a
deliberate action. See note 4.
If a player receives a yellow card, no substitute is allowed onto the pitch
until either the opposing team scores a goal or the 2 minutes elapse.
GUIDANCE
Note 1
This infraction will only be called when an advantage is gained by the
offending team, i.e. possession is gained as a direct result. The free position
will be taken at the site of the foul.
When play restarts with a free position at the centre line, this rule will still
apply.
Note 2
At present the offending player is moved 4m in the direction from which the
foul was committed. Under the new rule, the offending player will be moved
4m to the side of the fouled player. The side to which the offending player is
moved will be the side from which the infraction is committed.
Note 3
When the goalkeeper is outside the circle, she will be treated as a field player
and will take possession of the ball 4m onto the field, and no closer than 11m to
goal.
Note 4
“Deliberate” implies intent and intent is determined by a player’s actions on
the field. No goal may be scored from a defection off an attacking player (Rule
13.C).

I thought it would be useful to post a summary of the new rules, and a few bits of guidance. If specific questions crop up, I will update the guidance to reflect any uncertainty.
These rules will be going on the ELA website imminently, and BUCS will also be distributing them to clubs. The documents will also contain the reworded rules.
Please note that different rules are being trialled in each country.

Re:
Ajax wrote:'Balls of the body only to be called when deliberate' - how about a ball off the body which is greatly to their advantage, for instances hits a leg and rolls in front of them for an easy pick up, away from a defender?
Unless it's deliberate then its not a foul. Remeber though, a goal cannot be scored off the body.
