Colchester beat Brighton 11-10. Very good game between two fairly evenly matched sides. Thanks to the excellent referee as well!

Brighton let themselves down with an awfully slow start and Colchester capitalised by totally dominating the first quarter. Although the hosts pulled themselves back into contention by winning both the second and third quarters, they took too long to do it and never looked entirely comfortable.

Colchester made the long journey down to the south coast with only ten men and as the fourth quarter got underway Brighton's much larger squad size seemed to begin to make a difference: The hosts scored two quick goals to take the lead for the first time, at 9 - 8. However it was not to be, as Colchester immediately came back to score three goals. At the two-minute warning, Brighton trailed by two but took well over a minute to score their next goal, meaning that they simply ran out of time as they chased the equaliser.

Excellent performance by Colchester, and noticeable improvement from Brighton. Delightful game to ref as well, with very little deliberate foul play at all. Thanks to both captains for assisting me in keeping discipline on the field.
