Welwyn 2 v Blues 2

As Welwyn had a pitch problem they came to The Blues. Both sides looked like starting short but The Blues made it to ten as the starting whistle blew.

First quarter ended 7 - 1 to Blues when Welwyn made it to ten and a close game followed.

Q2 2 - 2
Q3 1 - 3
Q4 2 - 1

Final score 12 - 7 Blues.

Great effort by Welwyn to make sure a game was played.

cf Reading 2 10 v Blues 2 0

Cancel a game because you can't manage an insurance claim then rearrange to a date your opponents can't make then claim the points. Nice!

That's not exactly an accurate account I things beezee. Firstly a few clubs cancelled fixtures on the basis of insurance (including spencer and reading).

More importantly, the date of the rearranged game was agreed nearly 3 weeks in advance of the fixture, and both teams were in agreement on it. Blues cancelled the day before the match without any warning that they might after reading had booked an astro turf to make sure the game went ahead.

Furthermore blues like reading have 3 teams and if the seconds were short ten then third team players should have been called up to cover the shortfall. Suggest you get your facts right next time. Cheers

Great to get back to league action after such a long break.

Very nice playing surface at Mitcham, excellent hospitality, and many thanks to the referees.

I'm not sure you've read my post correctly.....we did claim the points, fortunately in the end we didnt have to pay for the astroturf, but it took quite a bit of wrangling. What I am disputing is your reasoning which have an unfair depiction of the circumstances that lead to this situation! The insurance situation was out of everyone's control, the cancellation of a game at late notice which had been agreed three weeks in advance when you have a large pool of players is entirely avoidable....

We seem to be drifting off the thread!

Still thanks for agreeing with the point that started this little romp. Welwyn went out of their way to ensure a game was played. Reading's effort has been somewhat diffent. Reading have points. Welwyn had a good game of lacrosse.

I'm for the Welwyn approach.

Good Night.

Well so did reading as evidenced by the astroturf. On the week where the insurance problem arose reading had 46 players available for selection and so tge last tging we wanted was a cancellatuon. realistically there are no weekend available for this game were both teams are free. Anyway we'll leave this on here. Ill send you a pm about last season and a related matter.

Beezee

You didn't agree with games being postponed while the insurance situation was being clarified, we get it. Now give it a rest please.

If Ash is accurate in saying that both teams agreed to the rearranged date three weeks in advance, then what exactly is the crux of your argument?

Actually I don't even care. Petty infighting such as that which you have displayed on this thread is one of the barriers to further growth in lacrosse. Think on that the next time you get the urge to publicly slate another player or club.

Brighton vs Northampton

Northampton made the looooong trip down only to be told the game couldnt go ahead, apparently because of a double booking of the pitch? Obviously quite annoying for both teams as everyone was ready to play, just one of those things.

I think Northampton took the 10-0 walk over as a result, but dont quote me on that.
