Flags just isn't valued at all in this part of the world. It's like the equivalent of the Football League Cup

IIRC Cochester decided not to turn up for last year' final

I think thats just you to be honest!

Colchester were in the plate final not the flags, and they had a pretty decent excuse for not turning up..............As smost of their squad was in spain on a tour booked over 3 months before they knew they were in the final!

Everybody else plays for love of the game, more progress in the flags is more weekends of lax and more shots at trophies!!

Exeter beat London Univ about 12-2, not sure of the exact score. Scrappy but hard fought game. Thanks to London for the hospitality and offering to let us stay over. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Reading 2s 26 - Warwick 2

Spirited performance from Warwick to the end, but game up against reading 2's best team performance of the season! Cheers for a good clean game!

Reading firsts beat Purley by a reasonable margin, not sure of the score though!

Welwyn 3's 14 - 3 Aber

Quartertime scores:
Welwyn 1 - 2 Aber
Welwyn 6 - 3 Aber
Welwyn 11 - 3 Aber
Welwyn 14 - 3 Aber

The game was played in very good spirits, with the Aber boys taking an early lead. Aber goalie twisted his ankle early in the 2nd quarter and Hatswell stepped in. Aber goalie managed to shake off his injury and limped back into goal for the second half.

Both teams had several silly penalties, however, both sides learned from this and provided a very exciting end to end game in the last quarter. Aber didn't stop trying and the scoreline doesn't reflect how well they played. It was a pleasure to Ref this game. Thanks to Dave Groves for Reffing as well, you did a great job, keep up the good work.

Thanks to Brian and Welwyn for the hospitality.

Thanks to Warwick for making the trip down, they never gave up, never stopped running and were rewarded with a fine team goal, even if it was only a consolation.

My hamstrings are a mess, I'm stinking out the house with the smell of deep heat. Mmmm...

Intermediate Flags Round 2;
Buckhurst Hill 10 vs 8 Birmingham City
Cracking game at Roding Lane again. Brum stormed out to an impressive 4-0 lead, BH eventually found some fluency, closing out the match with a 4-0 final quarter.
Thanks very much for making the journey and good luck for the rest of the West1 season.

Colchester conceded to Bristol. Think it was a combination of a lot of players missing and the sheer distance. We didn't fancy going over with 9 or 10 players. Shame as my brother lives there and was willing to see how being a lacrosse goalie differs from being a football goalie...
