Postby Minchroadster Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:31 pm

Guys do we know, yet, whether any games will definitely be going ahead this weekend?

More snow has arrived in East Grinstead this morning. We've got an astro booked for Saturday, so will depend on the next couple of days.

At the moment it seems like the Reading @ Hampstead match is going to go down to a Saturday morning pitch inspection. Nightmare to organise but worth it if we get a game.

We had a couple of inches in Cardiff last night (oooohh hello sailor) - is the "all-weather" pitch at Southampton going to be playable this weekend?

It should be but ...
ill check n get back to you.

EDIT: groundsman says atm it should be ok, we are forecast rain rather than snow over the next few days which should help thaw it out if it doesn't freeze too badly. he wont definitely know until Friday.

Quins game is @ swansea on sat and there was heavy snow last night. However its a warm.2 degrees and the white stuff is running away. Thu should be 4 degrees with showers, Friday 8 degrees with heavy rain and sat a boiling 9 degrees with heavy rain. Providing hawks are still on astro I.see no.reason as to why the game can't go ahead :)

I personally wouldn't talk about the person who has the ultimate say in whether your entire team plays or not like that, even if you're certain they're not going to see it.

More likely is that hes trying to give the pitch a bit of time to recover(drain, defrost, w/e) after the snow so that you'll be able to play the rest of your games this season on the kind of surface you're used to, rather than a pitted and muddy bog resembling a heavily used rugby pitch.
Currently M.I.A. - I'll be back.

Given the 2's are playing the 3's at home this game may well go ahead dependent on road conditions. The first team are playing Blues initially at Ottway. This may indeed be postponed as the groundsman is fairly protective of the pitch but an alternative might be KG V where we have a second pitch. However, it is a long way for Blues in this weather.

At this moment I don't believe any decision has been made on any match for Welwyn and I think the temperatures are forecast as rising with rain on Saturday. So we will decide later and let people know.

All Spencer games are looking iffy.

1st team vs Hillcroft - the Spencer grass pitches are currently out of action but will be reviewed later in the week.
2nd team vs Canterbury - the council (who run the King George's Park pitches) have cancelled all bookings this weekend. I doubt the Canterbury pitch will be any better but waiting to hear from them.
Blues 3's vs 3rd Team - contacted Blues 3's and their pitch is iffy but they will confirm later in the week.

So the prospect of another non-lacrosse weekend looms. :(

Blues 2 vs EG A and Blues 3 vs Spencer 3 and both victims of the weather.

Hitchin v Bath is definitely going ahead tomorrow.

Thanks to Bath for agreeing the early face to allow us to grab an astro and thus not needing to cancel.

Astro booked from 11.30am - 1.30pm so hopefully face will get going at 12 latest!

Great way to start a Friday!

What's the weather like in London? I'm awaiting confirmation from Hampstead that their pitch has been cleared.
