Has Steelers recent defeat of Heaton Mersey put the cat amongst the pigeons?

I think Steelers will still just lose out but then outclass the 2nd div and go straight back up next year!

when is the Boardman v Steelers game? could go down to the wire!

They (along with Nick Watson at Oldham, and Ben Lyon at Steelers) all made the Euro's squad whilst playing 2nd Division lax.

Surely with the amount of training that they will have to do, the selectors aren't too bothered about where they are playing their lax at the weekends?

Part of a discussion at MPC this week, it was made very clear that playing premiership lacrosse is NOT a prerequisite for national honours!

reports would suggest that people have had it mentioned that prem lacrosse is much much prefered... but theyre only reports....

There was a time that players were pressed to move to premiership clubs.
In recent years this has dropped of also you could not see it happening for next season now.
I think it is better to play at the highest level but unfortunately I believe the standard of lacrosse has dropped and the gap between the bottom half of the prem and the top of the 1st is not great.
League restructure I told you so 10/3/2011(looking good on this one)
Prem division to two leagues will result in the prem division failing and being combined with Nemla 22/3/2012
the proposed restructure to 8 teams in each prem league will only last a couple of years until it has to be restructured again due to teams dropping out. 13/12/2012

I have to disagree with that. the two teams that came down from the prem to D2 last year have been head and shoulders above the other 8 teams. Neither team have lost to any of the other 8 teams in the division and have both reached the junior flags final.

No, you dont play for Boardman.

Whilst the number of stand out players may be less, I think a more competitive league is very much a good thing. Three different teams winning the league in last 3 years shows that the prem is more open than in recent times.

My moneys on Dale walking the prem, apart from maybe a draw v steelers.

You have got to watch out for steelers they can ruin you season.

I would like to know where the reports come from, so they could be quashed. The national Squads are instituting the Academy programme to identify talent, and then to mould it within the national programme. Playing higher quality lacrosse of course helps develop skills, but equally club lacrosse can be counterproductive in producing a national player. The priority has been stated as identifying athetes, with the potenial to achieve national honours from whatever club or Region they come from.

MPC = Mens Playing Committee - the body with immediate overall responsibility for the running of Men's Lacrosse in England
