Senior Flag's Final

Postby dalglish Mon Apr 29, 2013 11:55 am

Congratulations to Stockport on winning the game of the weekend 8-6.
Stockport took greater pleasure winning this years final than they did last year due to the fact that this was a game they were down in until the final qtr . Cheadle took the game to them and led 3-1 1st qtr, at the beginning of the 2nd it was soon 4-1 which meant Stockport found themselves in unfamiliar surroundings, they clawed back to make it 4-4 HT. Cheadle went 5-4 up in 3rd with it ending 5-5.
In the final qtr Stockport went in front for the first time and took a 3 goal lead only for the game to end 8-6
Full Credit to both teams for the attitude and discipline from start to finish, certainly from a spectators view this was the most difficult game I have seen Stockport play for 2 years.
Spencer next up for Wilkinson Sword and Iroquois Cup

Special mention to all match officials who handled the game superbly yesterday and also thanks must go to Rochdale LC for putting on another successful weekend, just a shame they can't influence the weather.

Sounds like a great game; who got the goals?

Would it be too much to ask that the ELA had the results / scorers (as a minimum) on their website last night? Guess so.....

the guy who was/will be updating it is probably and quite rightly hung over/not in work today.
and last night would have been celebrating.
Normaly I would agree but this is a good excuse this time
League restructure I told you so 10/3/2011(looking good on this one)
Prem division to two leagues will result in the prem division failing and being combined with Nemla 22/3/2012
the proposed restructure to 8 teams in each prem league will only last a couple of years until it has to be restructured again due to teams dropping out. 13/12/2012

Stockport scorers (in order):

Q1
James Morris

Q2
Steve Howe
Anthony Murphy
Mark Reynolds

Q3
Tom Patterson

Q4
Mark Reynolds
Chris Bland
Mark Reynolds

Decent game. My man of the match was Andy Baxter who changed the game after half-time by stopping Chris Brady dominating at the face. The game turned slowly in Stockport's favour after that. Reynolds' goals also crucial as Sotckport capitalised on the momentum.

Attitude and discipline in the most part well-spirited. Winding up on the goalie a couple of seconds after the whistle isn't a very nice thing to do.

Dave, surely thats what coaches are for, changing the tactics to gain the advantage, Cheadle were winning every face, Baxter changed that, more possession gained by Stockport altered the whole dynamics.
I have stated many times that Ringo, Keith and Baggie are worth 2-3 goals per game.
Surely the "neutral" spectators would have been happy after last years result.
