Ken Galuccio Cup 2013 in Ghent/Belgium
As published today europeanlacrosse.org, for your information.
Ken Galluccio Cup 2013 - Ghent bid successful
The ELF recently invited for bids for the 2013 edition of the Ken Galluccio Cup, the European Club Championship for men's and women's Lacrosse. Out of five initial bidders, two parties submitted comprehensive, well prepared and very competitive bids - one from Manchester, UK and one from Ghent, Belgium.
The postal voting process has now been completed and the official result is as follows: In favour of Ghent voted a total of nine countries, a total of five countries voted for the Manchester bid. No vote was received from other countries, one vote was not counted as it missed the deadline and one country abstained.
The board would like to congratulate all bidders to their professional bids and thank all member countries for their votes. We are now looking to support the successful bid as much as possible and look to support a successful tournament in close cooperation with the team from Ghent.
The Ken Galluccio Cup 2013 will be held on September 7th and 8th 2013, in Ghent, Belgium. More details on this will be available on the ELF's homepage and online media within the next week. Interested teams are encouraged to please contact the board of the ELF via email to secretary at europeanlacrosse.org We are looking forward to the KGC 2013 with many teams and some very good Lacrosse.

Ghent is a great place, good food and beer, plus I have a good friend who lives there. Then again we are talking about the legend which is Bath here! I think it will depend whether Stockport qualify for the KGC and if they decide to go.

Last couple of years it has not been the lack of will to take part, rather the cost. Ghent should be easier than Prague.

For the record, I have no idea why the name of a particular city in Belgium gets linked to a commercial for glasses.

Hi,
There will be detailed bit of information on the ELF web and fb page with all details within a week. The two bids submitted were incredibly detailed and very well prepared, with Ghent winning it by a few votes.
Please bear with us until we published the information for all teams through our online media.
Kind regards
Henning

Bloody hell, that is a surprise. Well done spencer.
Yeah those penalty stats are incredible.
It looks as though spencer destroyed the team who knocked out Stockport; was it the fouls that killed Stockport?

ooof everyone bar Big Mac taking a knee is pretty impressive!
Save percentage for the semi - looks like the Farsta goalie had a hell of a game.
Though being man down 10% of the time must've taken its toll?

Re: Ken Galuccio Cup 2013 in Ghent/Belgium
Congratulations to Spencer for taking the trophy home.
Had a look through the stats and found Spencer had a couple of things on there side:
- their three top scorers in the top 10 (Stockport as well, but total for Spencer is 47G and 13A, while Stockport is 32G and 16A for top ten placed players)
- Spencer had 9.5mins total penalties over the tournament, lowest amount across the board (Stockport 42.5mins, they played 24mins man down in its last two games, a quarter of which were unsportsmanlike conduct)
- Spencer's goalie placed second in the tournament
- Whatever happened to goal tending in the Farsta - Stockport game must have been curious - Farsta need 14 shots for six goals, Stockport 29
Most importantly, the tournament started from a challenging history and has achieved record attendance (twenty teams in total attended), reported stats in all the nerdy detail and there now is a proper European Club Champion.
A big thanks to the guys at the ELF and in Ghent who took care of business.
The next invitation to tender will be out soon, I think, any club with the right level of organisation can pull this event off. Maybe London next year?

Re: Ken Galuccio Cup 2013 in Ghent/Belgium
The Farsta-Stockport game,
The stats does not tell you the correct picture of the game. First it was a hell of a game to watch.
the ball posession was about 45-55.
Farsta plays a very fysical type of Lacrosse wich i think took stockport with a surprise and i think they underestimated there opponents and you all know how difficult it is to get back up again.
And it certanly did not help that the Farsta Goalie was pretty good
Also sitting in the box does not help you much but Stockport scored 4 out of 5 goals in man up.
Farsta only scored 1 or 2 goals in man up.
So basic is that Stockport had a bad day and Farsta a good day thats about it!
And when final against Spencer took part everybody could see that Farsta did not have any fuel left in the tank because if you are going to beat stockport bad day or not you have to fight for it.
congratulations to the victory Spencer, well deserved! In books for 2013 it is written Spencer that is all that counts.
By the way i remeber a post on this forum When Farsta beat the blues with 7-3 or something in champions cup 2011 and somebody said they would get there as kicked if they faced Stockport or a czech team. well "whiney" i guess you have to take that back.

Re: Ken Galuccio Cup 2013 in Ghent/Belgium
I've heard about Farsta not having anything left in the tank previously and don't agree. They didn't stop running about and warming up between the semi and the final as they obviously didn't drink enough the night before.
My pals at Stockport warned me they had 2 threats, a long stick faces off who then went off to get a short stick and came straight back on, and another attacking middie. Aside from those, without being disrepectful to the Swedish team, the skill level wasn't of a level that should've been able to beat that Stockport team. It was nothing to do with conditioning.
Both of these threats were neutralised firstly by Gabe winning every face so he didn't get chance to get his short stick and generally by our ball control. Not getting penalties meant we rarely turned over and the attack went about dismantling them. They scored a couple of neat goals but I was just watching for most of it.
