Finally, the season has begun!

Prem - Mersey 11-11 Wilmslow
I only arrived at half time, third quarter was nearly all mersey, although there was a controversial shot from Wilmslow ruled not to have crossed the line. Mersey dominated the third quarter but were guilty of turning over possession too much, whilst Wilmslow conceded a number of penalties that didn't help their cause. Both sides had good chances to score in the last couple of minutes, with both keepers playing well, Mersey's saving a number with his legs and Wilmslow's benefiting from too many shots that started high and stayed high.
The only time he takes his foot out of his mouth, is to put the other one in!

Wacs B v Liverpool 8-17(ish)
quarter scores:

very tight first three quarters, liverpool a bit rusty in attack and Wacs battling well throughout, making it closer than it probably should have been, but well played to them for sure. Liverpool went for it in the last quarter and Wacs seemed to tire allowing us to runaway with the score a bit.

good game all round.

Norbury 6 - 5 Boardman & Eccles

Q1: 2-1
Q2: 2-2
Q3: 1-0
Q4: 1-2

Low scoring thriller to start the season off under prefect conditions for lacrosse at Norbury.
Both defences played well in this evenly matched game, Boardman fought back to draw level in the 4th quarter dominating time of possession
but Norbury scored the winner on a fastbreak with their only shot of the 4th quarter.

Norbury Goalie Ian Coldwell made some clutch saves especially on Man down in the last quarter to keep Norbury in the game.
Pete Green (LSM) did a great job for Norbury marking Boardman's England U19 player Max Leonard holding him to 2 points (1,1).
Greg Bennett top scored for Boardman & Eccles with 3 points (2,1) followed by John Grubisic 2 pts (1,1) & Chris Brown (1,0)
Craig Bennett (Wales) Top Scored for Norbury with 5 Goals (5,0), with Steve Pigeon (1,0) & Adam Woods (Wales) 4 pts (0,4)

Boardman out shot Norbury 36 - 24

Lots of handling errors as expected in first game of the season but the game was played in good spirits through out refereed by Tony Nugent & Rory ? (reffing his first ever game). It was a competitive game right to the end played at a fast pace and a good game to watch.

Great start to the season, if only all the games could be played in this weather.

Nottingham 18 Poynton 6

A strong new look Notts team triumphed against to be fair an understrength Poynton team decimated by losing 6 players this season on top of the 8 or so from last.

half time score was 6-4 to Poynton but Notts started playing properly as Poynton tired and some good team goals were scored and some great saves from the new keeper.

( scorers shared the point which is a great plus for the coming season.

debuts for a number of players who all performed well.

great start to the season in great weather

Wilmslow A v Heaton Mersey B

Postby le grand papa Sat Sep 26, 2009 7:22 pm

Final score 9 - 12 to Mersey

Strange game as 4 - 4 at half time & Wilmslow looked the dominate team. 5 - 10 at 3/4 time as Wilmslow defence collapsed

Good to the Ladybridge boys back playing lacrosse at last

2 players scoring 5 each , then the other 9 goals spread over 5 other players

Debut for 2 juniors after being 16 this week

"How does the beer taste when you win"? 10 times better was the reply

Good luck Poynton , good to see Dougie Martin blowing the cobwebs out as he aims to sharpen up for the masters

result Ashton v Stockport A

Postby Koyunbaba Sun Sep 27, 2009 12:24 pm

Final score was Ashton 4 Stockport A 8

Good game played in pleasant conditions against a new look young Stockport A team. We took an early lead going out to 3-1 but as they settled and their extra legs told they clawed the game back and ended up running out quite comfortably winners. It was also good to play in a generally good tempered game, there was one or two moments when things threatened to boil over but generally it was played in great spirit.

Good game well played stockport A

all the best
