MELLOR are the new leaders of the Men's North of England League Premier Division after they thumped Brooklands Hulmeians 21-4 on Saturday.
England midfielder Sam Davidson and attackers Brandon Wright and Daniel Hodgson led the way with four goals each at the Longhurst Lane side led throughout.
Cheadle moved up to third place and kept the pressure on the leading bunch with 10-5 win at home to Manchester Waconians, while Wilmslow, who were third, slipped down the table after a 16-10 defeat to Heaton Mersey,
Sam Dunwoodie stole the show for Mersey with eight goals, while skipper Chris Battersby weighed in with four as the Oakley Villas outfit continued their good run of form, which also see them edge Mellor last weekend.
Newly-promoted Sheffield Steelers, having faired well in the top flight thus far, were give a rude awakening with defeat to Boardman and Eccles
The South Yorkshire side were humbled 18-5 by the Lancashire opponents, but their conquerors still remain rooted to the basement on goal difference, behind themselves and Timperley.
