Pitch marking - keep it in

Postby lax_mad_webborn Mon Jan 14, 2013 2:25 am

When a ref calls a stalling warning to keep it in, in he uk, do you keep it in the box or just in the restrainer? From games I've played in its always been if there is a box then use it if not then restrainer. Just wondering what the official ruling is?

Just keep it inside the restrainer.
The rules used in the UK (FIL International) make no mention of the box. My understanding is that the box is only used in NCAA

2 points i think are true, can someone just confirm or tell me i'm wrong?

1 - get it/keep it in can be called at any time - not just the last 1/4
2 - if the call is "keep it in" does the team have to make progress towards the goal, or can they literally just "keep it in"

Cheers

1. Can be called at any time, and does not necessarily have to be called in the last quarter (some people wrongly think its automatic in the last few minutes of the game)

2. Only have to keep it in. No rules about going to goal

This weekend, I was informed that shouting "check" as a player put his stick up to catch a hail mary pass was worthy of an unsportmanlike conduct, but then opposition players shouting "get it in, keep it in" was left as being fine! (I am certain it was players as I could hear the ref consquently shouting "no warning")
The only time he takes his foot out of his mouth, is to put the other one in!
