If you want to see the original hidden ball trick get a copy of 'The Secret of Our Success' (circa 1990) on VHS and watch Gary and Paul Gait take the piss out of (I think) UNC with an absolute monster from the half way line.
Paul even walks you through it on the commentary:
"I fake the flip to Gary. Gary does a great job of making like he's got the ball. And the goal is left open for a great shot into an empty net."

Or something like that. UKLF will back me up on this one. I used to watch it again and again and again and again. It's Paul Gait's "all time favourite play at SU". I still try it in pretty much EVERY game I play, with varying success rates.

I used to watch this video when I was a kid learning to play, loved it! The Gait brothers also pull off some crazy fake shots into behind the back and around the world passes. I used to try and imitate them in the front yard, never worked out right!

The goal in question starts at 1:59 and it ends at 2:34 as they replay it several times. Check out the goalie's position!! btw that was a great game.

is an Alumni of Hobart College (University) and played under Dave Urick alongside Jeff Tambroni (Penn State HC)

Hobart won 11 Straight NCAA Div III National Titles and had a Box of Tricks on EMO and Offence, Hidden Ball tricks, fake passes, fake catches etc

Hobart Univ 2004-2006 while a couple of Canadians were there in attack spent the whole season using that EMO play with great success

Yes, faking needn't be mickey-taking, and that one just allows a moment of freedom in front of goal for a clear feed. With all the big games coming up this weekend, let's hope coaches and captains don't get too tight to allow a little freedom of expression. It's entertainment for the masses.

You can do anything (but obviously not moddifying your stick) to trick the defender such as fake passes and fake shots i do it all the time and so does ncaa mll and nll
