THE FIVE PHASES OF TRAINING
Players Go Through Four and perhaps Five Distinct Developmental Phases To Become Elite Athletes.
PHASE 1:
The players learn the Fundamentals of lacrosse.
PHASE 2:
The players Learn How to Play lacrosse.
PHASE 3:
The players focus on Learning How to Compete. They learn the concepts of team play and how to execute their skills at faster and more intense levels.
PHASE 4:
The players Learn How to Win. This is the phase where you will hear the players use the remark “this is what it is all about”. It means that they have achieved the levels of concentration, the sustained intensity and the attention to detail that is required to use their talent.
PHASE 5:
The fifth Phase is for the very best players who are willing to make the commitment to Learning How to be the Best in the World.
To Develop Their Full Potential, Players Must:
· Be fully trained at each phase BEFORE THEY GO ON.
· HAVE AMPLE TIME TO PRACTICE.
· Measure success in IMPROVEMENT rather than in wins.
