THIS IS NOT ADVERTISING!!

Texas Lacrosse (before they went bankrupt!) used to publicise a shaft comparison showing strength, weight and ultimately a strength x weight per cost.............this did not take account of the various different grips and finishes. A summary of the various shafts in categories is given below.

Aluminium: Alloy 2000, AL6000

CU31 Titanium Alloy: Platinum CU31, Ultra + Ti, CU31, F15

C405 Titanium Alloy: Kryptolyte C405, Custom Alloy C405, Triax 7000, C405, F22, Magnum Flip Grip

C555 Titanium Alloy: Krypto Pro, Dagger 1, C555

Titanium: Titan Classic, Titan Pro, Levitation, Titanium, Triax Titanium, Ultra Ti

The db803 is an enhanced Titanium alloy. The Scandium is a Proprietary alloy, as is Liquid Metal.

Hope this helps.

lol...me advertising...goes to the highest bidder!

Infact today lacrosse produces so much great quality kit, that you need one super good argument to slag anything off really!

Manufacturers have made it a problem for players, just what should we buy?!

Gone are the days when the Edge was the bees knees and the only stick worth having. But on the flip, it means everyone has just got to get that bit better than the last product!

There is now such a variation in shafts that it is worth shopping around, people say a workman shouldn't blame his tools - maybe he shouldn't but quality speaks for itself, its now all about individual customisation.

Anyone who thinks they can get a full titanium shaft for 30 pounds........ buy as many as you can! On the world metals markets titanium has been increasing consistently over the last couple of years.

The STX Axe is a C405..........

ah it's part of a sponsorship deal for the worlds, so at cost price (or something similar) hence why its silly low, sadly can only get the one i think (though now strongly considering being a d-pole for the order!)

only drawback to the axe IMHO is that god awful paint job on it (still a bit of nail polish remover....)

Just been reading a view on copper ore prices that have increased by massive amounts over the last 3 years.Titanium has also followed suit.

So dont throw your old bent tit shafts, smelt them

I'd suggest buying Ti shafts now! becuase there will come a point when the manufacturers will just put the price up!

Cheeky - you need to collect the old ones - Cheaky Smelting Co, followed by Cheeky Titanium Shafts!

Any of you lads tried a standard broom handle? , i used to use one before switching to my offset shaft. Make sure its a used broom handle as you have less chance of getting splinters, Admittedly it does spin in your grasp a little but once you get used to that, it works like a dream.

Talking of broom handles, does anyone have any thoughts on the use of a hickory for goalies??

I am sure it would feel awesome. And I believe cheeky was probably plugging this exact idea but. The weight is gonna be a little silly.

Our keeper uses an STX Guardian head and that thing ways a ton. Adding a hickory shaft would slow all movement i believe. Mind you it could be a possible training aid, similar to the warrior powermasters. (have always wanted to feel/try the d pole!!).

I have recently given our keep my old K pro as i had snapped my pole version of it...twice. It is good and rigid and very light, I have found k pros not to bend, they jsut snap clean and split.!

I have the wooden retro railgun with hi tensile aluminium tube - it weight in at 220grammes for a short shaft . so a keeper stick should be be max 320grammes

Look like wood but light as a feather . have 1 at the flags for all of you, to see

Hmm sounds interesting.

After having a look around for a new goalie shaft I have ruled out titanium (too expensive) and composite (shattering!).

I think I have narrowed my search down to the dB803 and STX Axe c405 (I agree the paintjob is a bit crappy - the new one is niceb though.)

Any ideas which is the lightest?
