Bath Eights weekend

Postby streborkin Mon Mar 20, 2006 3:27 pm

I am tempted to run the mixed tournament on the Bath Eights Sunday again (this will be the 5th).
Although its me on my own, I feel we get a good response and a good time is had by all.
I've always kept it relatively quiet, but might expand if theres an interest.
Basically which mixed teams would be up for it?

Of course it would mean the chance to come to the mens the day before and get loaded in the evening in Bath.
Last 4 years it's been £25 per team.

Tried to get the ladies interested but no joy.
There is no room on the Saturday at all for anything else, so it has to be Sunday.

Wouldn't argue with those boys! Did you see some of them last year before they set off to play Bristol? What would it be like if they took up lacrosse?

I’m sure staffs could raise a team possible 2, but what would be the format?

8-aside
10-minute halfs
Would fella’s have to use women’s sticks?

can't remember the format each time (usually too hung over from the night before to have a clue what's going on), but no fella's haven't had to use women's sticks in the past and given strborkin's post in another thread on this issue and he's the guy organising it i can't see any change in that rule!

i might be wrong but i was under the impression that the mixed tournament last year was full teams. but i could be wrong.

Hows that young guy who got hit ion the face with the ball behind the fastest shot competition! That wasn't the nicest of injuries!!

Yes it will be any stick, no rising shots 4 second carry. No beer on the pitch.
Patrick (the kid that got one in the face) scored his first goal for the 1st team against the Walcountian Blues just before Xmas.

I have booked the field early this time so theMini rugby should be absent.

Would be great to have a mixed/ladies day on the sunday after Bath 8's. I play for Bath ladies and we always end up joining teams who are short of players, we don't seem to be able to get the mens Bath team to come along and play mixed. I ended up playing for the Bath juniors team last year at the mixed tournie, was really good fun, but womens would be fab and a good warm up game before the season starts.

Cardiff club should be there. We'll actually try to beat G+J this year. Losing by 1 goal in the semi's isn't somethng you forget easily.

OK looks like we have enough interest
Go to www.bathlacrosse.com and contact me through the website.
Cost will be £25
Rules will be loosely;
12 a side
7 mins each half
Min 5 of one gender
Subs on the fly
Any stick
No rising shots
4 second carry
No beer of strange body fluids on the pitch
No whinging
Teams referee when in gaps.
Case of beer for the winners.
It will start at 11.30 registration 11.00.

Will run the usual pools with the winners playing Semis and finals depending on time.

And all those "Juniors" are 16 now, hair and hormones all over the place so bath Ladies beware. If you would like to help on the day that would be a welcome sight.
