Brighton 1sts defeated Reading by a score of 17 - 2.

Strong performances from James Nott dominating the draw, Megan Funnell orchestrating the defence, and Alice Marno outscoring Reading singlehanded. Several of Brighton's usual girls were unavailable due to a spate of ridiculous excuses, such as "Injured", "Got an essay to do" and "Trying out for South Ladies" but fresher Lexy Timms stepped up to make her 1st team debut and acquitted herself very well, starting the game in defence and moving up into attack later on where her pace caused serious problems for Reading's back line.

Reading tried to raise the pace of the game by forcing play through their pacy male middies, but some clever tactical work by Tim Broomfield and Ben Western, deployed as deep-lying defensive midfielders, nullified this threat and forced a succession of interceptions. Lou Argles was back to her goalscoring best, revelling in the space created by the rampaging runs of Ben Young and scoring a couple of sublime finishes.

Many thanks to Reading for making the journey down to Eastbourne and joining us in the pub afterwards, and also to EG's Nick Blackwell for reffing once again.
