Come on people! Lets get mixed back on the radar please.

Brighton 13 v 4 Northampton

A composed performance from Brighton who, despite having the smaller squad, dominated possession and wisely dictated the pace of the game. Fantastic duel at the draw between James Nott and Northampton's #4, both very technical players constantly adapting their techniques to try to gain an advantage.

Brighton's defence was bolstered by the long-awaited return of Megan Funnell, who has been out for a couple of weeks with a scaffolding/gymnastics/drinking injury. Together with Tim Broomfield and Nadine Fry, Megan effectively shut down the vaunted attacking line of the league leaders, causing several turnovers on the five-second rule throughout the game. That having been said, Northampton's #13 broke free to score a couple of sublime goals to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

However real credit must go to rookie sensation Bryony Roberts who came off the bench to score a couple of goals that will no doubt have Manchester City sit up and pay attention. One particular finish saw Roberts lash a shot in from a narrow angle across the keeper's face, riccochet off the far post, pass behind the keeper and then glance into the net off the near post!

With captain Ryan Waldman sitting deep in midfield and pulling the strings, Brighton's attack line were given plenty of time and possession to pick apart a stout Northampton defence. Attack wing Livi Morris was at her very best, plucking wayward passes from mid-air and pirouetting past defenders like a little ginger ghost, and Alice Marno popped up with four assists as Brighton carved out a well-earned victory.

Many thanks to Northampton who provided a very tough test regardless of what the scoreline may suggest, and were a great laugh in the pub afterwards. Also thank you to East Grinstead's Nick Blackwell for agreeing to come and ref the game at very short notice indeed.

Reading 8 Southampton Uni 4

A well fought game with the score 2-2 at the half. By the end of the game they just wanted it more but well fought for a come back from Southampton.
