Re: Running Up the Score - A Class"less" Act

So if it is classless to push for a score so high in lacrosse isn't that the same as telling Usain Bolt to slow down during a race so the gap is narrowed??? I'd understand where you are coming from to say it's unsportsmanlike if the winning team were trying all sorts of crazy shots, trick shots or ...

Re: Crease Violation & Goalie Interference

5) Ball is in red crease, but not in the red keepers possession. Blue, whilst trying to 'fish' the ball out from outside the crease, makes contact with the keeper or his stick. Interference: ball goes blue, no send off? Contact with goalkeeper is ok when the ball is not in posession of the keeper. ...

Re: week end results

John, I acknowledge that you're trying to conjure up ideas to address some issues in the competitive league structure. However, it is worrying that you use the terms .... "So I am suggesting that what could be tried is, at the start of the season the development team would submit a player list&...

Re: week end results

The problem is that there are always those who will seek to twist a system but it then comes down to policing. I was thinking about this again this morning. At the start of the season players could register for a development team and they would not be available for other club squads in the same com...

Re: week end results

Great idea John .... not far away from ..... Stockport (A) = Cale Green, Cheadle (A) = Kingsway, Heaton Mersey (A) = Heaton Moor .... all go into Premiership 3. Very soon we have a few more (A) teams signing up to the idea. By 'smoke and mirrors' we get all these teams into Premiership 2, plus the f...

Re: week end results

In football a much weaker, or outclassed team can seek to prevent the far better team from playing and scoring. It may not be pleasant to watch, but it happens quite frequently. However, lacrosse is so much different, and it showed up in this summer's Euro's and World U19's. That's why it's difficul...

David already has!
What it demonstrates is the lack of any consistency, or understanding.
Stats are great .... coaches can use them for all manner of purposes, but only if they are meaningful and accurate.

Re: BUCS Lacrosse Stat Tracker by ArchLevel

will there be a guide for people who are taking stats... i.e. what is an assisted goal... Saves on goal, when it hits the pipe?? Face-off wins, is that possession, or face-off. I've heard so many interpretations of 'assists' in lacrosse ... it's better than Fantasy Football! This argument comes up ...

Re: Head Gear for Women's Lacrosse

Well the comment that some girls make about feeling more confident could lead to them playing with a more aggressive style in attack, and put themselves in danger. A good comparison would be with cricket, where close in fielders wear helmets and shin protection. Would some of them field so close in ...

Re: Head Gear for Women's Lacrosse

There are a whole catalogue of concerns and reasons for dodging this question. Some years ago we carried out a survey at the National Schools Tournament. We had samples of eyemasks available and a huge number of girls, parents and coaches looked at them. We took the opportunity to ask questions .......

Re: Olympics

I know that growing the game is important, if not crucial, and at grassroots level it's the way forward. However, we appear to be following a path which partly ignores the 'elite' element of the game. I recall reading a lengthy article in Lacrosse Talk which was damning of other sports and the atten...

In fact .... penalty starts once they are seated (if a chair is provided), or kneeling on one knee!

Re: Olympics

The biggest problem is that the vast majority don't realise/ understand how sports get considered for inclusion. Apart from some very basic criteria as identified already, there's a host of other hurdles to overcome. The FIL, as now constituted, is attempting to tackle the points in a progressive ma...
