White player claims he was tripped. Your call?

Re: Can we really grow LAX in the winter?
OK FT0, the ball is in your court. What do you consider to be the reasons lacrosse is where it is?

Re: Can we really grow LAX in the winter?
Good to see the topic raised again. I agree with you that if Lax remains a winter sport its future will always be restricted, and that the national body, the clubs & the players need to have an extensive & serious debate about this issue. I cannot believe that there are not plenty of rugby &...

Re: Silly Season question
Thanks for the link which answers the question (from a US perspective). Looks like MG has got it completely right.

Re: Silly Season question
Don't you consider that harsh? If the ball had been stuck in the attacker's stick, for whatever reason possession would have been awarded to the defender. The defenders made a good play, dislodging the stick, now he would have difficulty picking up the ball as its still in the attacker's stick. Don'...

Silly Season question
Attacker in possession runs by defender who knocks attackers stick from his grasp. Ball remains in attackers stick. Without interfering with the attacker, who's momentum has carried him on past, the defender drops his own stick, picks up attackers stick & passes to a team mate. Do you make a call?

Re: Possible league restructure proposals
The mini league concept seems fairer. So the suggestion is that points earned in the mini-league are added to existing points to give final placings?

Re: Possible league restructure proposals
The top 4 teams in each division would then play off for their respective divisional championships, and to determine promotion from divisions 2 and 3 (2 teams being promoted from each), giving a total of 17 league matches for them. How is it proposed that they would play off? Not keen on the idea o...

Thanks for that MG. As a club secretary I have not yet received this info from NEMLA - probably the reason its not been discussed!

Re: Two questions from today's game
Thanks for those observations guys. With the benefit of hindsight & collective thoughts I probably got 50% of those decisions correct! If the missing attackman happens again I'll obviously have to whistle the CBO's flag, and advise that the attackman should get on the pitch with more haste &...

Two questions from today's game
White goalie has possession and advances towards Green goal. When he is about 20 yards from Green goal the CBO whistles, and momentarily after he does so Goalie is checked and loses possession. Check is fair. White were offside in possession. Change of possession, ball awarded to Green, whistle &...

Re: Losing the head from the crosse
Thanks for that RP - I can rest easy I did make a correct call last week! I note that the "full list of mens rules" link on this website is not up to date as Rule 63.3 is omitted, (note to forum moderator - up to date rules please) but the link on the ELA website does include the appropria...

Losing the head from the crosse
I seem to recall an additional ruling a few years ago that if the head of a player's crosse became detached in playing the ball or checking an opponent it was to be called a Technical Foul. I can't find it in the current rules - have I dreamed the whole thing? Are other refs calling this?

Goalkeeper possession
Ball falls to the ground within the goal crease. The goalkeeper, who has both feet outside of the crease clamps the ball. If the goalkeeper then shuffles into the crease, whilst keeping the ball clamped, is he guilty of re-entering the crease? "A goalkeeper or defending player who is outside th...

Lift Check
Seeing lots of examples of lift checks in games at all levels, including coaching videos for juniors. Usually executed when attacker has beaten defender, who as they trail lifts an arm of the attacker, causing him to readjust pass/shot. Generally regarded as a good defensive play. Not overly aggress...

Does anyone know where I can find an explanation of the hand signals used to inform the CBO of the number of a goal scorer or player serving time?

Re: Level 2 refereeing exam
Took L2 Feb this year. Quite surprised by format. All multi choice questions (if I recall correctly). None of the dimensions/timing questions seen at L1. Quite a lot of questions around "you are officiating with an inexperienced ref. This event occurs and your colleague does X. Do you agree, wh...

Re: NEMLA resturcturing
Surely one possible solution to a number of problems is to move lacrosse to a summer sport! Too radical? Some of the advantages include: availability of athletes from other winter sports - are you telling me there aren't hundreds, if not thousands of good class hockey & rugby players who would m...
