Brooklands A 11 - 0 Boardman A
Solid defensive performance made up for a disjointed display up front at times. Brooklands' midfield was dominant both ends of the field which was the difference.

Mellor A 9 - 14 Brooklands A
Both sides looked rusty but a good competitive game to start the season.
Thanks to MG for officiating.

Re: If league points are equal at end of season
On a serious note, I think more teams need to be aware of this system. The number of people who think that goal difference is important is getting ridiculous. It only matters in head to head. There is no point thumping a team by 30 goals, unless you are worried that they will do the same to you on ...

Re: U19 - Thoughts and comments
Amateur sport is a hobby - a recreational activity in your leisure time. How seriously you take that amateur sport does not alter the fact that it is still a leisure activity. Professional sport (i.e. getting paid) is no longer a hobby, it's a job. I think what UKLaxfan is getting at is that in this...

That win against Australia seems even sweeter now. From what I've seen the lads have done themselves proud in all the games and I hope they can continue their good showing for the rest of the tournament. Dh is doing a great job on the commentary and I like the fact he's trying to give a bit of backg...

Is any of this NCAA malarky on Telly? I'll give it a go but it's not proper lacrosse. Bloody fancy dans with their flashy 'ooh I can catch the ball, look at me' routine. Bet they've never fallen off the pitch in Ashton. Next week the Men's Final Four is on the box as well as the Women's Final.... B...

Denver - Very tough to beat a team 3 times in a season
Notre Dame - ND beats UVA zone and shuts down Stanwick
Duke - Like to say Colgate but think Duke will be too strong
Hopkins - Can't get beat by the terps again!

Re: Cheshire Squad for British Nationals
I'd assume it's been done to follow the traditional Lancashire/Cheshire lacrosse boundary of the River Mersey.
Liverpool north of river = Lancs.
Chester south of river = Cheshire

1-handed checks were illegal at youth level, in the Baltimore area at least, when I was touring over there as a youngster way back when.

Re: Another NEMLA restructure?
I'm suggesting the elite players just play in the summer (plus any others who want to play lower leagues through the winter then step up in the summer). Your example about the sunday match you watched is perfect. The summer league would allow all players from the lower divisions to spend the summer...

Re: Another NEMLA restructure?
What is very clear IMO is that the fact we are even talking about another restructuring so soon after the last one, is in effect, an admission that the change to the league structure has not worked (or more accurately not worked yet!). I'll freely admit that I was not in favour of the inital restruc...

Re: League north restructure
Chilli Out of interest can you tell us how the advent of BUCS men's lacrosse has impacted on the number of teams in SEMLA? Have some teams dropped out, preferring to concentrate on their Wednesday uni fixtures? From what's been discussed previosuly it appears that uni lacrosse will have an impact (b...
